The Challenge

NY SNAP to Market, a program of the Farmers Market Federation of New York, supports and promotes the viability of farmers markets through innovative services, programs and partnerships that maximize the benefits of markets to sellers, buyers, and communities. Their goal was to make using SNAP at New York farmers markets easier for both shoppers and sellers through improved access to resources, consistent communication, and high quality visuals.

The Solution

We started with a website redesign, focusing on creating a comprehensive information hub for multiple types of potential website visitors. With professional photos from markets throughout New York, we showcased seasonal SNAP products and developed a robust social media strategy to encourage SNAP users to shop at their local farmers markets.

Website Redesign

SNAP to Market needed a well-organized, eye-catching website that easily shared information and resources to their three target audiences.

Using Squarespace, we designed a custom seven-page website with dedicated pages to their three distinct audiences: SNAP users, farmers market vendors, and farmers market managers.

With a clear path for each user type, our goal was to create comprehensive webpages with all relevant information to encourage participation in the SNAP program.

Please note that live websites may have had changes made by after the completion of the project.

Social Media Management

Our social media goal was to increase awareness, build confidence, and reduce barriers to using SNAP benefits at farmers markets.

We partnered with a photographer to visit farmers markets and capture real vendors who accept SNAP, along with the everyday foods available to shoppers.

We built and executed a content calendar that highlighted these markets and vendors through boosted posts, while also sharing simple, helpful information on how to use SNAP at the market and what items are eligible. By focusing on education, the goal was to ensure more people can access fresh, local food in their communities.

In three months, NY SNAP’s social accounts experienced the following wins:

893%

increase in followers compared to the previous period

996%

increase in page visits compared to the previous period

32,200%

increase in content interactions compared to the previous period

187,300%

increase in link clicks compared to the previous period
