The Challenge

The Ypsilanti Farmers Market has been a community staple for many years, but were faced with the challenge of moving their well-loved summer farmers market to a new location. They came to us for support with announcing the big news, and also to expand their reach within the surrounding Ypsilanti community now that the market would have capacity for more vendors and more programming.

The Solution

We covered all the bases, starting with a brand new website and comprehensive strategies for marketing, social media, and email marketing. With new professionally designed branded assets and a series of two compelling press releases, Ypsi Farmers Market reached their community and successfully shared their message.

“Growing Hope and the Ypsi Farmers Market have collaborated with TLD for many years, and their expertise has been invaluable. They've helped us expand our reach through social media, email marketing, design, and more.

TLD are niche experts in exactly the type of marketing work required for this grant. Their thorough proposal, stellar reputation, and quick response time made the application process easier than I expected for a Federal grant.

Our team doesn’t have the capacity or specialized skills to execute a marketing campaign of this scale—but TLD does. They’ve proven themselves as a trusted, effective partner, and we couldn’t think of anyone better for this role.”

Website Design

The market needed a comprehensive informational hub to attract existing and new shoppers to the market.

Using Wix, we designed a dynamic, beautiful website that highlights food accessibility, community programming, and everything else a potential visitor needs to know to have a successful market trip.

Please note that live websites may have had changes made by outside parties.

Marketing Strategy

The Ypsi Market had big news to share, so that required a next-level marketing strategy to ensure they met their goals.

They opted for our Level Two marketing strategy, which allowed us to dive deeper into current marketing efforts, and outline a clear path forward.

“We’ve definitely seen positive results since implementing the new marketing materials and plan.

We’ve seen a clear uptick in visitors compared to before the plan was implemented.”

Email Marketing

The comprehensive email marketing strategy we created included components for both list-building and campaign strategies.

That way, the market clearly understands how to effectively communicate with their audience, and proven strategies to actively recruit new subscribers to their mailing list.

One strategy we proposed and implemented included adding a pop-up to their brand new website, which you can view in the image to the left.

In addition to their strategy, we designed 3 on-brand email templates that they can easily duplicate and send to their audience, making email marketing easier than ever.

Press Release

To spread the word to the larger southeastern Michigan community, we drafted two informational press releases and distributed them widely to targeted media contacts.

Within days of the first release, we saw other area media outlets sharing the big news of the market’s move!

“Our digital presence has grown as well. Social media engagement increased throughout the season, and our newsletter saw higher open rates, more reads, and — most importantly — more follow-through. We’re seeing people show up, participate, or mention things specifically because they saw them in the newsletter.

Several [vendors] mentioned that the new strategy feels clearer, more polished, and more supportive of their businesses while keeping the same warmth in our messaging.”
